This essay compares the thinking of the American philosopher Josiah Royce, expressly mentioned by Pirandello in his writings, with various aspects of Pirandello's view of the world. Possible and probable suggestions emerge, as well as a few certainties that go some way to enriching the overall picture of Pirandello's library.
