Epigrafia e ceti dirigenti nella Praeneste romana

Abstract

Sullo sfondo dei rapporti tra Praeneste e Roma durante la Repubblica, si passa in rassegna la documentazione epigrafica concernente i magistrati della città libera e dei primi anni della colonia sillana. Ci si è quindi soffermati su due specifici casi studio: il segnacolo sepolcrale di un probabile magistrato prenestino e il gruppo di epistili iscritti dalla zona dell’antico foro cittadino; questi ultimi, recanti i nomi sia di notabili locali, sia di esponenti dell’aristocrazia urbana, forniscono, in particolare, un significativo apporto conoscitivo alla storia edilizia del complesso forense tra lo scorcio del II sec. a.C. e gli inizi della vicenda coloniaria.
