Arte e architettura sacra come spazio unitotale

Abstract

.Il termine sacro, connotativo della dimensione metafisica, introduce una dimensione nuova che integra, trasformandola, quella legata alla sola percezione euclidea dello spazio. Il pensiero di Pavel Florenskij che apre l’orizzonte delle dimensioni reali dello spazio sacro in rapporto alle arti figurative afferma che nell’arte, lo spazio dell’opera, il suo nocciolo «ciò che si da creativamente, è la forma stessa dell’opera». La cognizione della spazialità nell’opera d’arte costituisce quindi la chiave per la sua comprensione. La possibilità di una conoscenza globale dello spazio sacro è legata anche alla capacità dell’uomo di restare fedele alla struttura originaria della realtà, alla sua «integralità» come desiderio della conoscenza autentica che tiene unite le tre sfere del vero, del buono e del bello. Il saggio sviluppa questi temi attraverso il pensiero di Rosario Assunto, Vladimir Solov’ëv, Sedlmayr e T. S. Eliot riconoscendo nell’opera dell’ignoto architetto per la Cappella Contarelli, che stava per ospitare i teleri di Caravaggio, un’opera integrale di rilevante valore simbolico.
