This study is dedicated to researching the theoretical foundations of relief perspective in De Scenis, the sixth book in Perspectivae libri sex, written by Guidobaldo del Monte in 1600. The theatre scene is a perspective laboratory in real scale, where the projective transformations of the space can be experimented. The contraction of the scenic box is ruled by the projective principles at the basis of perspectival theories treated by Guidobaldo in the other books of his work, theories that leave a profound mark on the history of representation.
