The present review aims to examine the current research state on jealousy within couple relationships. In particular, starting from the construct definition, this paper examines the main theoretical models developed so far and examines the specific manifestations and characteristics that distinguish normal from pathological jealousy, the outcomes that different forms of jealousy can have on the well-being of the individual and on the quality of the couple relationship, as well as the multiple risk and protection factors that contribute to arising and maintaining this complex emotional experience.
