Abstract

Il libro si propone di offrire un lessico della storia culturale, cioè un percorso costruito intorno ad alcune parole chiave utili a mostrare come la storiografia degli ultimi decenni abbia vissuto la svolta culturale, attraverso quali riferimenti e quali traiettorie quell'incontro si sia sviluppato. In particolare, il contributo di Asquer si concentra sulla parola "famiglia", ripercorrendo la genesi e le caratteristiche del filone della "storia della famiglia", sorto in seno alla storia sociale. La tensione tra un approccio di storia sociale, pur progressivamente innovato, e lo sguardo più proprio della storia culturale resta evidente su alcuni snodi del dibattito, p.es. sulla parentela. Nella seconda parte del contributo, si esplorano gli apporti di un insieme di ricerche che, pur non sviluppandosi all'interno dei confini disciplinari della storia della famiglia, ne innovano di fatto con forza gli orizzonti. Il governo dei corpi, scandito dal dualismo natura-cultura, e il nesso tra evoluzione dei modelli familiari e processi di nation-building, che insistono sulla tensione tra sfera pubblica e privata, costituiscono i due principali terreni di innovazione messi in rilievo, che portano la storia della famiglia autenticamente verso una storia politica di cui la storiografia non può fare a meno.
