Abstract

Introduzione al pensiero di Karl Jaspers. Dopo essersi occupato, come psichiatra, di psicopatologia, contribuendo in modo decisivo al rinnovamento di questa disciplina, Karl Jaspers è diventato uno dei padri fondatori della «filosofia dell’esistenza». Per lui il singolo individuo - la cui vita non può mai essere sviscerata in toto dalle scienze, ma soltanto essere «chiarificata», nel suo nucleo più profondo e nel suo costitutivo rapporto con la Trascendenza, dal pensiero filosofante - è prima o poi costretto a fare i conti con «situazioni-limite» (lotta, colpa, casualità, sofferenza, morte) che lo scuotono nelle sue certezze tradizionali, facendolo «naufragare», ma lo chiamano al contempo - come una sorta di appello della Trascendenza - ad essere autenticamente «se stesso». Esse costituiscono, quindi, la condizione di possibilità per la riconquista, da parte sua, di una fede «filosofica» che, pur essendo risultato di una rivelazione storicamente prospettica dell’unica Trascendenza, è in grado di dare nuovamente senso alla sua esistenza.
