Abstract

Lo spoglio delle «Epistolae» e dei «Sermones» di Pier Damiani porta ad individuare ben 117 citazioni dell'Apocalisse, di cui 46 vere e proprie «expositiones» dall'andamento esegetico. L'evangelista Giovanni è definito con il grecismo «logotheta»: «logotheta divinitatis». Attraverso questi estratti si possono così riconoscere alcune caratteristiche dell'esegesi di Pier Damiani: un'interpretazione attualizzante della Scrittura, un'enfasi verbale e un'esuberanza retorica nell'esposizione, rarissime riflessioni sulle realtà escatologiche. Conclude il saggio un'appendice costituita da un indice delle citazioni letterali e dei riferimenti all'Apocalisse nelle «Epistolae» e nei «Sermones».
