Prioridades sociales y arreglos institucionales para la gestión local del Corredor Biológico Volcánica Central-Talamanca, Costa Rica

Abstract

Realiza un estudio sobre las prioridades sociales y arreglos institucionales para la gestión local del Corredor Biológico Volcánica Central - Talamanca (CBVCT). La investigación se dividió en tres etapas: 1) Caracterización social e institucional del CBVCT; 2) Sistematización de procesos avanzados de gestión local de tres corredores biológicos (Corredor Biológico Chorotega, San Juan – La Selva y Talamanca – Caribe); y, 3) Identificación de estrategias para la gestión exitosa del CBVCT, que incorporen las condiciones sociales e institucionales existentes y las lecciones aprendidas de los otros procesos avanzados de corredores biológicos. Los resultados demuestran que el CBVCT cuenta con una amplia presencia de organizaciones e instituciones, lo cual constituye una gran oportunidad para facilitar una gestión exitosa. Respecto a las lecciones aprendidas de la gestión local de los tres corredores biológicos sistematizados, se evidenció: la consolidación y el fortalecimiento de las comisiones de gestión, la reducción de la vulnerabilidad ante riesgos, acceso a mecanismos de compensación financiera a mayor número beneficiarios, gran cantidad de actores involucrados en la gestión del corredor e incremento de mejores técnicas y adecuadas prácticas agrícolas amigables con el ambiente que permitió el proceso de restauración del paisaje en cada uno de los tres corredores sistematizados.
