The child in classical Turkish poetry

Abstract

The concept of child, which has a wide place in human development periods, has become the subject of study of different disciplines. From law to history, from literature to art, the concept of child has been and continues to be processed. In the field of medicine, pediatrics, and in the field of psychology and education, pedagogy constitute the branch that examines this period of people in detail within their own disciplines. In this study, it was tried to determine how the word child was used in Classical Turkish poetry and what meanings it had. In classical Turkish poetry, couplets containing children and words related to children were classified under three main headings: "Parables About Children", "Cultural Elements Related to Children" and "Developmental Characteristics of the Child", and subheadings were created while examining the couplets. Many works were scanned during the study, but the sample that best reflected its title was preferred. While annotating the couplets given as examples, different disciplines were used and the benefits of different disciplines in classical literature studies were examined. In addition, during the study, the couplets were examined in terms of child development discipline and tried to be supported with historical visuals.
