The founders are men and women who, having received a charism from the Spirit, conceive the idea of an institute with its ends and propose rules accepted by the Church and followed by those who form a religious family. The figure of the founder is decisive in the genesis of an Institute of consecrated life but also in the configuration of its identity. The minds and purposes of the founders acquire normative character for an Institute. That is why it is important to identify the founder of the various groups and to distinguish the charism of founder and founding charism.
