Located in the Lycaonian Region during antiquity, the Manazan Rock Settlement resides today in the Yeşildere (İbrala) valley of Karaman province. It is a settlement carved into the cliff on the northern side of the valley, between the villages of Yeşildere and Taşkale. It is clear that the arable soil both in the valley and on the plateau above had been a determining factor in the development of such an important settlement as Manazan. The settlement lies on the northern side of the valley in an east-west direction. Based on the topographic features, Manazan can be divided into three sections: the Central Section, the Eastern Section, and the Western Section. The Central Section, which stands out with its multi-storeyed structure and is considered to have been0 designed in part for security purposes, consists of five storeys. There are 14 rooms on the first storey, 11 rooms on the second storey, 5 rooms on the intermediate storey, 11 rooms on the third storey, 58 rooms on the fourth storey, and 24 rooms on the fifth storey, resulting in a total of 123 rooms. Some of these areas were used as a kitchen, wine workshop, living space, oven, storeroom, cistern, burial space, and stable. The first parts of the Eastern Section have four storeys, but the number of storeys is observed to drop to one on the easternmost part. There are a total of 30 rooms, 6 on the fourth storey, 5 on the third storey, 9 on the second storey, and 10 on the first storey. The areas in this section were also employed as a church, burial chapel, kitchen, workshop, wine workshop, living space, storeroom, cistern, burial space, and stable. The Western Section displays a two-storey structure. It has a total of 36 rooms, 24 on the second storey and 12 on the first storey. The rooms here display the features of a church, structure with a cruciform plan, chapel, workshop, wine workshop, living space, oven, storeroom, cistern, burial space, and stable. In light of the historical and archaeological data, it can be concluded that Manazan was inhabited since the Roman period and maintained its significance during the Byzantine period as well.

Manazan Kaya Yerleşimi antik dönemde Lycaonia Bölgesi'nde yer almaktadır. Günümüzde Karaman ili Yeşildere (İbrala) Vadisi'nde yer almaktadır. Yeşildere ve Taşkale köyleri arasında, vadinin kuzey yamacındaki sarp kayalığa oyulmuş bir yerleşimdir. Gerek vadi içerisindeki gerekse yukarıdaki platodaki tarım yapmaya elverişli topraklar sayesinde burada Manazan gibi önemli bir yerleşimin geliştiği anlaşılmaktadır. Yerleşim, vadinin kuzey yamacında doğu-batı aksında uzanmaktadır. Topoğrafik yapıdan hareketle Manazan'ı temel olarak üç bölüme ayırmak mümkündür. Bunlar Merkezi Kesim, Doğu Kesim ve Batı Kesim'dir. Bunlar arasında çok katlı olması ile ön plana çıkan ve kısmen güvenlik amaçlı olduğu anlaşılan Merkezi Kesim 5 kattan oluşmaktadır. Birinci katta 14 mekan, ikinci katta 11 mekan, ara katta 5 mekan, üçüncü katta 11 mekan, dördüncü katta 58 mekan ve beşinci katta 24 mekan olmak üzere toplam 123 mekan bulunmaktadır. Burada karşılaştığımız mekanlar arasında mutfak, şarap atölyesi, yaşam alanı, fırın, depo, sarnıç, mezar ve ahır bulunmaktadır. Doğu Kesim'in ilk kısımlarının 4 kartlı olduğu ancak doğuya doğru gidildikçe kat sayısının 1'e düştüğü görülmektedir. Dördüncü katta 6, üçüncü katta 5, ikinci katta 9 ve birinci katta 10 adet olmak üzere toplam 30 mekan yer almaktadır. Burada da kilise, mezar şapeli, mutfak, atölye, şarap atölyesi, yaşam alanı, depo, sarnıç, mezar ve ahır gibi mekanlar ile karşılaşılmaktadır. Batı Kesim'de iki katlı bir düzenlemenin olduğu görülmektedir. İkinci katta 24, birinci katta 12 mekan görülmekte olup toplam 36 mekan bulunmaktadır. Mekanlar nitelik olarak kilise, haç planlı yapı, şapel, atölye, şarap atölyesi, yaşam alanı fırın, depo sarnıç, mezar ve ahır gibi yapılanmalar olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Tarihsel ve arkeolojik veriler göz önünde bulundurulduğunda Manazan'ın Roma Dönemi'nden itibaren iskan gördüğü, Bizans Dönemi'nde de önemini koruduğu söylenebilir.
