Warum wählen so wenige Männer das Studienfach Soziale Arbeit?

Abstract

Der Beitrag greift die Problematik der horizontalen Geschlechtersegregation bei der Berufs- und Studienwahl auf und geht der Frage nach, warum so wenige junge Männer das Studium Soziale Arbeit wählen. Dabei werden Determinanten einer für Männer geschlechtsuntypischen Berufswahl im Forschungsprojekt, das in einem mixed-method Design angelegt ist, analysiert. Der Beitrag stützt sich auf die Daten des quantitativen Teilprojekts, in dem MaturandInnen in Deutschschweizer Kantonen online befragt wurden. Die Ergebnisse der Datenanalyse des ersten Befragungszeitpunktes zeigen, dass der Bildungsstand der Eltern, individuelle Interessens- und Fähigkeitsprofile, das soziale Netzwerk sowie die Vorstellung über Studieninhalte die Studienfachwahl Soziale Arbeit von jungen Männern beeinflussen.
