Abstract

The resulting water from cocoa washing were treated through the anaerobic fermentation process in a BATCH-type bioreactor with a stirrer, to obtain bioethanol. Likewise, with the cocoa shell, compost has been obtained in open piles by aerobic process, to obtain a high-quality bio-fertilizer regrding N, P, K and micronutrients such as Mg, Mn, Zn and Ca. The concentrations of the products obtained were: 7.3 g / l ART; bioethanol percentage of 4.7% of unpasteurized resulting water from cocoa washing and 4.1% of pasteurized resulting water from cocoa washing, using commercial Sacharomyces cerevisceae as a strain; Regarding the concentration of N-P-K in the chicken manure compost was obtained, 0.56; 0.03; 0.20%; guinea pig compost 0.29; 0.02; 0.16% and 0.29; beef compost; 0.02; 0.23% of N-P-K respectively, this composition being indicated for application in acidic soils because it has an average pH of 9.3. It is concluded that it is possible to use and transform agricultural cocoa residues to give added value in an integral way, and to reduce the negative impacts it generates on the environment, especially on its resulting water from cocoa washing.
