Dağlık Kilikia mezarları ve ölü kültü

Abstract

ingilizce ABSTKAKT (en ıazıa z;>u sozcukj: GRAVES AND DEATH CULT IN ROUGH CILICIA All researches undertakenin Rough Cilicia and in the Olba region dealing with this thesis have the graves as a starting point. The grave types and necropolis areas in Middle Rough Cilicia have been compared with the Olba region (east Rough Cilica) and it has been concluded that the tombs with monumental character, constructed in Olba since the Hellenistic period, have appeared in Rough Cilicia during the Roman period.Tombs in the area of Gülnar in North Rough Cilicia have shown that this area stood under the influence of Isauria and coast line being a quite poor part of Rough Cilicia. A settlement in middle Rough Cilicia has been examined through its tombs and it has been figured out that the site had its most brilliant period during the 2nd and 3rd centuries A.D. Another conclusion which has been obtained is that the site known as Arsinoe is actually the Roman settlement of Nagidos and that the centre of Nagidos was moved eastwards during the Roman period. It has been possible to set up a typology of the tombs in the area, from the archaic to the Roman period, by studying the tombs of Nagidos. Taking the finds of the necropolis of Nagidos it has also been possible to set up concrete evidence on the existance of cremation in classical and Hellenistic periods in this area. The tower tomb with pyramidal roof in Diocaesareia has been reexamined in its dating and it has been dated, in the contrary to the sill existing suggestion of a Hellenistic dating, to the Roman period. Through an urn and a stele, found during our surveys, it has been possible to conclude new resuts and to give emphasis on the importance of Adamkayalar in its death cult. In combination with Adamkayalar the idea of life after death and the presence of heroisation in the region of Olba have been discussed. Finally gods standing in direct connection with death cult have been handled with cocrete evidence.
