Bu tezin amacı, Kırım Hanlığı Tarihi?nin en büyük Hanları?ndan biri olan Selim Giray?ın 1671-1704 tarihleri arasında 22 yıl 7 ay süre ile dört defa Kırım Hanlığı görevinde bulunduğu süre zarfında, Kırım Hanlığı?nın askeri, siyasi faaliyetlerini sebep ve sonuçları ile genel bir çerçeve içerisinde incelemektir.Söz konusu amaca ilişkin olarak, Selim Giray?ın dört defa Kırım Hanlığı görevinde bulunduğu dönemleri (1671-1677 / 1684-1691 /1692-1699 /1702-1704) esas alarak tezimizi bu plan dâhilinde şekillendirip, Osmanlı sefer organizasyonları dâhilinde Selim Giray?ın Osmanlı Devleti ile beraber Lehistan, Avusturya ve Rusya arasındaki cereyan eden mücadelelerde emrindeki Kırım kuvvetleri ile göstermiş olduğu gayret ve çabaları incelemeye çalıştık.Son olarak Selim Giray hakkında oluşturduğumuz biyografi ile Selim Giray?ın, çocukluk ve gençlik yıllarını, şeceresini, karakterini, ilmi edebi ve dini yönünü, devlet adamlığını ve Osmanlı Devleti nezdindeki önemini değerlendirmeye çalıştık.

The aim of the thesis is to investigate in a general framework the military and political activities of the Crimean Khanate together with the reasons and results during the period in which Selim Giray, one of the greatest Khans in the history of Crimean Khanate, ruled as the Crimean Khan for 22 years 7 months from 1671 to 1704 for the fourth time.With relation to the aim in point, by shaping the thesis within the plan based on the ruling periods of Selim Giray as the Crimean Khan for the fourth time, I have tried to examine the attempts and efforts of Selim Giray and the Crimean forces under his control together with Ottoman empire in the struggles which occurred among Poland, Austria and Russia.Finally, with the help of the biography about Selim Giray, I have endeavoured to present Selim Giray?s childhood and youth, family tree, personality, his scientific, literary and religious aspect, statesmanship, and the significance of him in the eye of (before) the Ottoman Empire.
