Roma İmparatorluk Dönemi`nde Kilikia bölgesindeki mozaiklerde personifikasyon

Abstract

During the Roman Imperial Period, examples of personified mosaics, along with the usual mythological scene and decorative mosaics began to appear in various regions. These personifications are used in mosaics by giving geographical elements, regions, cities, natural events and abstract concepts in human form. One of the regions where personification examples are seen is the Cilicia Region. In this thesis, the personifications seen on the mosaics in the Cilicia Region during the Roman Imperial Period were investigated.Throughout this research, during the Roman Imperial Period, what people intended by using personifications on mosaics and which concepts were used in which kind of function were mentioned. However, mythological themed mosaics and personified mosaics seen in the Cilicia Region were examined in separate sections, and in sections, comparisons and examples were used with different regions where similar examples were observed. In the conclusion part of the study, the philosophical and sociological situation of the period has been thought, and opinions about the aims of the chosen concepts were written. It has been mentioned how the mosaics in the regions that had commercial relations with Kilikia could be effective in the selection of the subject.
