Abstract

VII ABSTRACT CALCULUS ON TIME SCALE AND DYNAMIC EQUATIONS TOPAL, Serap Gülşan PhD Thesis, Department of Mathematics Supervisor: Doç. Dr. Ferhan ATICI June 2001, 95 pages There are many well-known analogies in the concepts of difference calculus and differential calculus. The calculus of time scales was initiated by Stefan Hilger in his PhD thesis [ 26] in order to create a theory that can unify discrete and continuous analysis. In this thesis, some basic rules of calculus on real numbers are presented for arbitrary time scales. This allows us to prove Rolle' s and mean value theorems on the time scales. The existence and uniqueness theorems for solutions of second order nonlinear dynamic equations on time scales with periodic doundary conditions are proven. The results are based on the notion of upper and lower solutions. Keywords: ? and V derivation, Green' s function, upper and lower solutions.

ÖZET ZAMAN SKALASIND A ANALİZ VE DİNAMİK DENKLEMLER TOPAL, Serap Gülşan Doktora Tezi, Matematik Bölümü Tez Yöneticisi: Doç.
