Aigai Bizans Sikke Definesi

Abstract

Aigai, Hellenistik Dönem’in önemli merkezlerinden birisidir. Kentteki kazılar İ.S. 12-13. yüzyıllara ait küçük bir Bizans yerleşimine ait veriler sunmuştur. Bu makalede, kentte 2007 yılı kazı sezonunda ele ge- çen ve yirmi iki sikkeden oluşan küçük bir Bizans definesi ele alınmıştır. Bronz görünümlü, çukur Bizans da denen trachylerden oluşan define, Bizans imparatorları I. Manuel, II. İsaakios, III. Aleksios, Nikeia imparatoru I. Theodoros ve Latin Hükümdarları sikkeleri (ya da Latin taklitleri) olarak belirtilen sikke tiplerini içermektedir.
