Abstract

Weaning weight is the most important factor on the productive process. For this, creep feeding can assume great importance to reduce the necessary time for the finishing and slaughter of cattle. With the objective to evaluate the performance of suckling calves in reply the different supplements in the creep feeding system and the economic-financier viability of the implantation for this system, 32 Canchim calves with 120 days of age and their mothers, which were distributed in four experimental lots with eight calves which one. The experimental period lasted 112 days, divided in four sub-periods of the 28 days. The experimental treatments were: SG = concentrate with corn ground and soybean; TA = concentrate with corn ground and peanut cake; FS = concentrate with corn ground and soybean meal and SS = without supplementation (control). All treatments received the inclusion of 10% of NaCl on two last periods (56 -112o day) for control of consumption of concentrated. The animals were evaluated through weighing and ultrasound measures. In the economic analysis were used the cash flow and the viability economic-financial gauge. The simulations were used for flexibilitation the results of the determinist situation. In which was modified the number of matrices and acquisition of the infrastructure. The planning horizon was considered 10 years. There were no significative differences among the treatments SG, TA, FS however there were observed differences (P<0.01) between supplemented treatments and the control in the first period. On second period occurred a significant increase (P<0.01) in the weight gain of the animals in the treatments with supplementation, in relation to the treatment without supplementation, with value of 1.019; 1.120 and 1.041 kg for treatments SG, TA, FS and 0.598 kg for treatment SS...(Complete abstract, click electronic access below)
