Abstract

Due to the frequent association with the fungus Fusarium solani root rot in cucurbits and stem, and with the collapse of melon, and increasing the use of grafting for management of soil borne pathogens , climatic adaptability and increased productivity, has become even more important to conduct research on the effects of performing grafting and combinations best suited to each situation. In function of this, the aim of this study was to evaluate the pathogenicity of two isolates of Fusarium solani in 33 genotypes of cucurbits and compatibility of these genotypes as rootstocks for net melon. In the assay I evaluated the effect of washing and cutting of the roots of melon lace 'Fantasy' on their initial development through three treatments (intact roots, the roots are washed and cleaned and cut) with five replicates, development was carried out by means of visual assessment . Essay II: was performed by inoculating the isolate yourself from Jaboticabal-SP by the method of spore suspension in 33 genotypes of cucurbits. In test III was inoculated plants only net melon 'Fantasy' by the method of inoculation of grains (corn, sorghum and rice) was used to isolate Jaboticabal-SP. Essay IV: through method with toothpick inoculated isolate from Mossoró-RN in 33 genotypes of cucurbits. For trials II to IV assessment was made by a rating scale. Trials was performed to evaluated the graft compatibility between 31 genotypes of cucurbits (rootstocks) and net melon 'Fantasy' (graft), we used the method for cleft grafting. We evaluated the survival percentage of plants at the time of transplanting and qualitative and quantitative characteristics of the fruit, and the diameter below and above the region of grafting. None of the strains of F. solani was able to induce symptoms in genotypes and Bitter melon and Trichosanthes cucumerins are not indicated as rootstock for net melon 'Fantasy', while watermelon ...
