Abstract

This research aims to study, through an object of culture, Brazil's transition, this is to say the country in the 1970s that was no longer a rural to become definitively urban. To execute this purpose we intend to understand country music in this period, especially represented by Leo Canhoto and Robertinho. With the introduction of electric guitar, music and lyrics based in westerns, scenic elements in the shows, hippie-style clothes, among other things, they were considered a major contributor to modernize the Brazilian music of rural origin. In this case, Leo Canhoto and Robertinho had operated a mixing procedure among the factors taken as archaic and modern in our society. The path, therefore, was to analyze aspects of their trajectory in the period from 1969 to1978 trying to understand what they portray about the country in those years. In this sense, this research finds that the poetry of the songs tells us something significant about their social time
