Abstract

O soro de leite é o principal resíduo da fabricação de queijos, e a sua composição química permite o uso como fertilizante. Para melhorar a eficiência da aplicação, é necessário conhecer a fração de mineralização do nitrogênio orgânico do soro. Com este trabalho, pretende-se avaliar a fração de mineralização do N do soro ácido de leite e comparar métodos de incubação de solo usados para determinar a taxa de mineralização do nitrogênio. Para determinar a fração de mineralização do N orgânico do soro, foram conduzidos dois experimentos em laboratório, ambos de incubação do solo com doses de soro por 126 dias, um com e outro sem lixiviação, utilizando Argissolo Vermelho-Amarelo e Latossolo Vermelho. Em casa de vegetação, foi conduzido experimento com os mesmos solos e milho como planta-teste. As doses de soro avaliadas nos experimentos de laboratório e casa de vegetação foram 0; 101; 203; 304 e 405 m3 ha-1, que corresponderam a 0; 80; 160; 240 e 320 kg ha-1 de N. Os resultados de mineralização do N nos experimentos em laboratório foram ajustados ao modelo cinético de primeira ordem, e cálculos de correlação foram feitos entre variáveis obtidas nos experimentos em laboratório e em casa de vegetação para estimar a capacidade dos métodos de laboratório de prever a disponibilidade de N. A fração de mineralização do nitrogênio do soro ácido de leite, média dos dois solos, é de 50% com o método de incubação com lixiviação, e de 35% com o método sem lixiviação. Apesar de o coeficiente de correlação entre o N absorvido pelo milho e o N mineralizado ter sido semelhante com os dois métodos, a diferença na fração de mineralização entre os métodos com e sem lixiviação não recomenda o seu uso alternativo para cálculo das taxas de aplicação do soro ácido de leite

Whey is the main residue from the manufacture of cheese and its chemical composition allows the use as fertilizer. To improve the efficiency of use it is necessary to know the fraction of organic nitrogen mineralization in the whey. This study aims to assess the N mineralization from acid whey and to compare methods of soil incubation used to determine the mineralization rate. Two incubation experiments were conducted in laboratory for 126 days, with and without leaching, to determine the mineralization of organic N in whey, using an Ultisol and an Oxisol. A greenhouse experiment was carried out with the same soils and maize as test plant. In all experiments, the whey rates were 0, 101, 203, 304 and 405 m3 ha-1, corresponding to 0, 80, 160, 240 and 320 kg ha-1 N. The results of N mineralization in laboratory experiments were fitted to the model first-order kinetic and correlation were made between variables obtained in laboratory experiments and greenhouse conditions to estimate the capacity of laboratory methods to predict N availability. The mean fraction of nitrogen mineralization of acid whey obtained with the methods with and without leaching is 50% and 35%, respectively. Although the correlation coefficients between N uptake by mayze and N mineralized were similar, the difference in the fraction of mineralization between the methods with and without leaching does not recommend its alternative use to calculate the application rates of acid whey
