Abstract

La distribución de las especies en los ecosistemas es influenciada por diversos factores bióticos y abióticos, y las barreras físicas operan como filtros para la dispersión. Los antiguos procesos de colonización y migración humana y con la reciente tendencia de globalización son los principales responsables por la transposición de las barreras geográficas e introducción de especies en regiones fuera de su distribución original. En la designación de las especies introducidas, la terminología adoptada puede eventualmente llevar a una falta de operacionalidad de las definiciones confundiendo la interpretación de los paradigmas relacionados al proceso de invasión. De acuerdo con la literatura los siguientes criterios: i) biogeográfico, ii) crecimiento de la población, y iii) dispersión en la nueva área, deberían ser tomados en cuenta para evitar interpretaciones subjetivas. La mayoría de los modelos presentados se encuentran insertos en los mismos paradigmas para explicar los estados del proceso de invasión (llegada, establecimiento e invasión); sin embargo, cada modelo tiene sus propios conceptos. Muchos autores consideran tanto las características de las especies invasoras como las características de los ambientes invadidos para explicar el éxito de las especies y el establecimiento. El uso de conceptos claros, bien establecidos y no subjetivos de especie introducida e invasora, así como sus derivados, es crucial para unificar los paradigmas del proceso de invasión.

A distribuição natural das espécies nos ecossistemas é influenciada por diversos fatores bióticos e abióticos, e as barreiras físicas operam como filtro para a dispersão. Os antigos processos de colonização e migração humana e a recente tendência de globalização são os principais responsáveis pela transposição das barreiras geográficas e introdução de espécies em regiões fora de sua distribuição original. Na designação das espécies introduzidas, a terminologia adotada eventualmente pode levar uma falta de operacionalidade das definições confundindo a interpretação dos paradigmas relacionados ao processo de invasão. De acordo com a literatura, os seguintes critérios, i) biogeográfico, ii) crescimento da população e iii) dispersão na nova área, deveriam ser tomados em conta para evitar interpretações subjetivas. A maioria dos modelos apresentados se encontram incertos nos mesmos paradigmas para explicar os estados do processo de invasão (chegada, estabelecimento e invasão) embora cada modelo tenha seus próprios conceitos. Muitos autores consideram tanto as características das espécies invasoras, como as características dos ambientes invadidos para explicar o sucesso das espécies e o estabelecimento. O uso de claros, bem estabelecidos uso de conceitos e não subjetivos de espécie introduzida e invasora bem como de seus derivados, é crucial para unificar os paradigmas do processo de invasão.

The distribution of species in ecosystems is influenced by several biotic and abiotic factors, and physical barriers operate as filters to dispersion. The ancient processes of human migration and settlement, and the recent globalization trends are the main responsible factors for the transposition of geographic barriers by organisms and species introduction in regions outside their original distribution range. In order to designate introduced species, the adopted terminology may eventually lead to a lack of operational definitions, misleading the interpretation of paradigms concerning the invasion process. According to the literature, the criteria i) biogeographic, ii) population growth, and iii) spreading in the invaded region, should be taken into account as a manner to avoid subjective interpretations. Most of the presented models are inserted in the same paradigms to explain the status of the invasion process (arrival, establishment and invasion), although each model has its own concepts. Many authors consider both characteristics of the invader species and of the invaded environments to explain species success and establishment. The use of clear concepts, well established and non subjective concepts of introduced and invading species as well as its derivatives is crucial to unify the paradigms of the invasion process.
