Abstract

O Brasil é o maior exportador e segundo maior produtor de carne bovina do mundo. A produção de sementes de forrageiras tropicais, intensificada a partir dos anos 70, contribui para que o Brasil detenha essa posição. As sementes forrageiras são indispensáveis para formação e manutenção de pastagens, porém estudos referentes aos efeitos genéticos quantitativos envolvidos na produção de sementes são escassos. O objetivo deste trabalho foi estimar as capacidades geral e específica de combinação em genitores de Urochloa spp. para caracteres relacionados à produção de sementes. Foram obtidas 23 progênies por meio do Delineamento II de Comstock e Robinson (1952). Foi realizado o cruzamento entre cinco genitores apomíticos e cinco genitores sexuais pertencentes a Urochloa spp. O delineamento experimental foi o de blocos casualizados com 23 tratamentos e 4 repetições. Cada parcela foi constituída por uma linha de 8 metros com 11 plantas, espaçamento de 0,8 m entre plantas e 1,4 m entre linhas. Características relacionadas à produção de sementes foram avaliadas nos anos 2019 e 2020. Foi realizada a análise dialélica para todas as características para a obtenção das estimativas de capacidade de combinação. Os componentes da variância genética foram calculados para os dois anos em conjunto e para todas as características. Todas as análises foram conduzidas no software R. Houve predominância de efeitos de dominância sobre a expressão do fenótipo para cinco das oito características avaliadas.

Brazil is the largest exporter and second largest producer of beef in the world. The production of tropical forage seeds, which has been intensified since the 1970s, has helped Brazil to hold this position. Forage seeds are essential for the formation and maintenance of pastures, but studies on the quantitative genetic effects involved in seed production are scarce. The objective of this work was to estimate the general and specific combining abilities in Urochloa spp. for characters related to seed production. Twenty-three progenies were obtained using Design II by Comstock and Robinson (1952). A cross between five apomictic parents and five sexual parents belonging to Urochloa spp. The experimental design was randomized blocks with 23 treatments and 4 replications. Each plot consisted of a row of 8 meters with 11 plants, spacing 0.8 m between plants and 1.4 m between lines. Characteristics related to seed production were evaluated in the years 2019 and 2020. Diallel analysis was performed for all characteristics to obtain the combining ability estimates. Genetic variance components were calculated for the two years together and for all traits. All analyzes were performed using the R software. There was a predominance of dominance effects on phenotype expression for five of the eight traits evaluated.
