Abstract

Understanding the total period that a seed is able to remain viable, that is, longevity, and how these seeds behave when there is the influence of green seeds is extremely valuable, both for germplasm banks and for seed production and storage, since its occurrence is widely reported by national and global soy producers. The Probit function is commonly used to predict seed longevity, however, many studies have reported flaws in its use, so the objective of this work was to evaluate the different link functions Probit, Logit and Cauchy-SSF, Stukel and Aranda-Ordaz, aiming to determine functions that more robustly estimate the longevity of soybean seeds with different percentages influence and to verify the influences of these percentages of seeds in the physiological quality of soybean seeds. The seeds came from the municipality of Campo Alegre - GO in the 2017/2018 harvest. Batches composed of yellow seeds with percentages of greenish seeds in the proportions of 4%, 8%, 12% and 16% were created, these were submitted to the germination and longevity test. In order to assess longevity, the protrusion percentage data were transformed by the Probit, Logit, Cauchy-SSF, Stukel and Aranda-Ordaz functions, with adjustments being made by linear regression, which enabled the determination of P50. To verify the influence of the percentage of green seeds on the physiological quality, an analysis of the regression curves and a multivariate evaluation were performed using the method of hierarchical grouping and optimization to find the similarity of the percentages of green seeds under study. It was concluded that the Cauchy - SSF function was more robust in determining P50 with the influence of green seeds (Chapter 1), the 40 ° C and 80% RH environment significantly decreased seed longevity when compared to the 35 ° C and 75% (Chapter 2), the environment that the seeds are submitted to is determinant in the behavior of green seeds in seed lots and the treatments of 8% and 12% have similar impacts on the quality of soybean seeds for all environments and cultivars under study.
