It is investigated in this doctoral dissertation, under the assumptions of the constructional change approach, theoretically systematized by Traugott and Trousdale (2013), qualitatively and quantitatively, constructions of transitive morphological structure, instantiated by action-process verbs. It is proposed here, from its describing and analyzing, a transitive constructional network of Brazilian Portuguese (BP), in which the constructions are organized hierarchically. At the highest level, one may find the transitive schema, as its pairing consists, in the formal counterpart, of a morphological property (noun, verb, noun structure), and in the functional counterpart, of a pragmatic property of denoting an event from the perspective of the one responsible for it. At the inferior level, there are 2 subtypes corresponding to the transitive and idiomatic construction, as they differ from each other regarding syntactic properties - [SVO] and [S [V N]]; and semantic properties - affect and event - that they present. One may find, under the subschemas, micro-constructions, presenting specificities, mainly semantic ones (argument structure), but also, in some cases, pragmatic specificities (change in the informational structure). Among the 20 micro-constructions identified, 7 correspond to the prototypical transitive construction, i.e, they encode the affectedness of the object; 6 correspond to the metaphoric transitive construction, in which the causal event is encoded metaphorically; and 7 correspond to the idiomatic construction, in which, instead of affectedness, an event is encoded. The diversity of micro-constructions in the network makes it clear how schematic the transitive schema is, as several items can fill its slots. It is shown that the peripheral members of the transitive construction and the metaphoric micro-constructions result in constructional changes, whereas the need of the idiomatic construction occurs due to the lexical constructionalization. It is concluded that not all action-process verbs that figure in the prototypical instantiations of the transitive construction figure either in the metaphorical instantiations or in the idiomatic construction instantiations, due to their meanings, as they are more specialized. As shown, action-process verbs with wider meanings have been used for these constructions. The work is based on a synchronic approach, with speech occurrences, collected from the Corpus Iboruna, and written occurrences, collected from the Corpus do Português. The speech data correspond to sociolinguistic interviews and the written data are taken from blogs and websites.

Nesta tese, sob os pressupostos da abordagem construcional da mudança, sistematizada teoricamente por Traugott e Trousdale (2013), investigamos, qualitativa e quantitativamente, construções de estrutura morfológica transitiva instanciadas por verbos de ação-processo. A partir de sua descrição e análise, propomos uma rede construcional transitiva do Português Brasileiro (PB), na qual as construções organizamse hierarquicamente. No nível mais alto, está o esquema transitivo, cujo pareamento é constituído, na contraparte formal, pela propriedade morfológica (sequência de nome, verbo, nome) e, na funcional, pela propriedade pragmática de denotar um evento a partir da perspectiva de quem o pratica. No nível inferior, há 2 subesquemas, que correspondem à construção transitiva e à idiomática, as quais se distinguem tendo em vista as propriedades sintáticas - [S V O] e [S [V N]v] - e semânticas - afetamento e acontecimento - que apresentam. Sob os subesquemas, encontram-se as microconstruções, que apresentam especificidades principalmente semânticas (papeis argumentais do sujeito), mas, também, em alguns casos, pragmáticas (mudança na estrutura informacional). Dentre as 20 microconstruções identificadas, 7 correspondem à construção transitiva prototípica, ou seja, codificam o afetamento do objeto, 6 correspondem à construção transitiva metafórica, nas quais o evento causal é codificado metaforicamente, e 7 correspondem à construção idiomática, em que, ao invés de afetamento, codifica-se um acontecimento. A diversidade de microconstruções que compõem a rede evidencia o caráter esquemático do esquema transitivo, já que diversos itens podem preencher seus slots. Mostramos que os membros periféricos da construção transitiva e as microconstruções metafóricas resultam de mudanças construcionais, enquanto a emergência da construção idiomática decorre da construcionalização lexical. Por fim, concluímos que nem todos os verbos de ação-processo que figuram nas instanciações prototípicas da construção transitiva figuram nas instanciações metafóricas ou nas instanciações da construção idiomática, devido aos seus significados, que são mais especializados. Conforme mostramos, são recrutados para essas construções verbos de ação-processo com significados mais gerais. Trabalhamos, em uma abordagem sincrônica, com ocorrências de fala, coletadas do corpus Iboruna, e de escrita, coletadas do Corpus do Português. Os dados de fala correspondem a entrevistas sociolinguísticas e os de escrita, a textos de blogs e de sites.
