Trigonometria: história e aplicações no contexto escolar

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to tell a bit of the history of mathematics as well as the history of the men who have built and developed its theorems. It was possible due to the observation of real situations, the necessity to solve contemporary problems through realistic experiments and conclusions according to the results achieved. In school environment it is noted a great difficulty that the students have in learning trigonometry and also about triangles. Consequently, some hands-on activities were developed among Middle and High School students in order to facilitate the understanding of this subject and make it more interesting and enjoyable. The students were presented activities in which they built figures (geometrical forms) using drawing compass, ruler and protractor. In doing that, they could experiment learning practices, check the theorems, give their opinions and even ask about different situations, but that truly suited to the activities suggested, providing an enjoyable and lasting learning.
