Abstract

The production of soluble phosphate fertilizers generates many tailings, whose the use is not possible by current industrial methods, resulting in high losses of P in beneficiation, through the solubilization of phosphate deposits, representing therefore a mineral not well used and a worrying environmental problem owing to the large volumes involved. In this context, the objective of this study was to assess the efficacy of two tailings from phosphate fertilizer industry as a source of phosphorus in two different conditions of soil acidity, using corn as test plant. The present study consisted of two experiments in different conditions of soil acidity, both were conducted in a greenhouse, with randomized blocks in 4 x 4 factorial designs with four replications, totaling 64 plots for each experiment in which they used samples of an Oxisol. The treatments were four sources of phosphorus, two tailings from the industrial production of phosphate called: phosphate precipitate 1 (FP1) and precipitated phosphate 2 (FP2), a reactive phosphate (FR) and triple superphosphate (TSP), in four doses (0, 40, 80 and 120 mg dm-3 P2O5). The first experiment consisted of applying phosphates in soil keeping the initial conditions of soil acidity. Experiment 2 consisted in the application of phosphate treatments on soil with corrective acidity application, whose amount was calculated to achieve 70% of saturation. Soil samples were collected for chemical analysis in each experimental unit, before sowing. The harvest of plants occurred sixty days later sowing and evaluated: plant height, stem diameter, dry matter, nutrient content and accumulation of phosphorus in the area and calculated the relative agronomic efficiency on the mass of dry matter and phosphorus accumulated in the shoot. The sources and levels of phosphorus influenced the relative agronomic efficiency in both systems studied soil acidity. The FP1 ...
