Estrutura genética de populações de Stryphnodendron adstringens (MART.) COVILLE (Barbatimão)

Abstract

In Cerrado vegetation occurs endemic flora of the world which evolutional processes are almost completely unknown, mainly on their regeneration mechanisms of fragmentation that have been tremendously increased. Stryphnodendron adstringens (MART.) COVILLE (Barbatimão) is one of the species of Cerrado, commonly known for its barks to be astringent and used for healing. The present work had as objective to study the genetic structure of five population of barbatimão and to analyze the spatial distribution of genotypes of the species in areas through São Paulo State, Brazil. There are genetic variability intra and interpopulational, where 98.55% of those occurs within population. The observed heterozigosity have presented lower than the expected heterozigosity indicating there is inbreeding into the populations. The spatial distribution, based on Index of Moran (I=0.0413), have shown that there is no relatives occurring closely. Although S. adstringens presents regeneration mechanism of aerial system using sprout from buds, which are present in subterraneous system, still the seeds characterize as the tool of predominant dispersion.
