Abstract

Technology should be used in schools as a teaching resource through their ability to interact with simulations, animations and forms of the map, so it is necessary that the teacher qualify for the proper use of this tool. Among its advantages such action, there is the possibility of interaction between the student and teacher, inside and outside the classroom and the opportunity to meet students distant places, in real time through satellite imagery, maps and digital video. It is for the education system contribute to the access the potential related to the digital world, that because the resources of IT may be another contributing to the formation of critical young students the basic cycle, enabling relations space between the phenomena of their living space. Considering the importance of using information technology in education, we check possibility of using the Google Maps site for construction of concepts location and orientation from the use of computers and the Internet as mediators, and engaged in the construction of the way home-school by elementary school children, the State School at Coronel Paiva Ouro Fino, Minas Gerais. For this, we use the city map available on site. We chose Google maps to be freely accessible free internet use and what works in different digital platforms. The difficulty is perceived by this program does not have been developed for educational purposes, therefore, presents problems both in relation to the availability of maps (some outdated and nonexistent) and in relation to their tools that require user skill and dexterity. Working with local maps is important because it allows the student to explore, physically, the city's landscape, familiarizing themselves with it. Building local maps will enable the students represent their own reality and make correlations between phenomena, helping the student become a mapper and player maps ... A tecnologia deve ser aproveitada no meio escolar como recurso didático através de suas possibilidades de interação, simulação, animações e formas de visualização do mapa. Para isso, é preciso que o professor se qualifique para o bom uso dessa ferramenta. Entre as vantagens desse recurso, há a possibilidade de interação, entre o aluno e o professor, dentro e fora da sala de aula e a possibilidade de o aluno conhecer lugares distantes, em tempo real, através de imagens de satélite, mapas digitais e de vídeo. Cabe ao sistema educativo contribuir para o acesso às potencialidades ligadas ao mundo digital, isso porque os recursos da informática podem ser mais um a contribuir para a formação crítica dos jovens estudantes do ciclo básico, possibilitando estabelecer relações entre os fenômenos espaciais do seu espaço de vivência. Considerando a importância do uso da informática no ensino, buscamos verificar a possibilidade de uso do site Google mapas para a construção dos conceitos de localização e orientação, a partir do uso do computador e da internet como mediadores, tendo como atividade a construção do caminho casa-escola pelas crianças do ensino fundamental, da Escola Estadual Coronel Paiva em Ouro Fino, estado de Minas Gerais. Para isso, utilizamos o mapa da cidade disponível no site. Escolhemos o Google mapas por ser de acesso livre, gratuito, disponível para uso na internet e que funciona em diferentes plataformas digitais. A dificuldade é percebida por esse programa não ter sido desenvolvido para fins educacionais, por isso, apresenta problemas tanto em relação à disponibilidade de mapas (alguns desatualizados e inexistentes) quanto em relação a suas ferramentas que exigem do usuário habilidade e destreza manual.
