Abstract

A twelve-years-old orchard of orange Pêra variety grafted on tangerine Cleopatra variety with high level of leprosis symptoms recieved, starting in october/2003, heavy and soft prune out, and uproot and than replant of the same quality of trees, to remove and reduce source of disease, and received aplications of acaricides to control Brevipalpus phoenicis too, resulting in an interaction of tactics that can be used in conventional and organic citrus groves. Were made periodical evaluations to monitor the B. phoenicis and predators mite populations, and more quantify the production, incidence and severity of leprosis, and the economic viability of the control strategy of the disease. After three years of the leprosis management, the productive recuperations of the plants was differentiated as the kind of prune out and replant. The better results were obtained by the interactions of soft prune out and the spirodiclofen acaricide. The heavy prune out and the replant reduced a lot of the productivity, haven t recovering the expected produtivity. The B. phoenicis control with the use of lime sulfur needed a greater number of spray than when used the spirodiclofen, this independently of the kind of pruning used, been it more expensive. Keywords: Brevipalpus phoenicis, organic citrus, economic viability.
