El asma bronquial es la enfermedad crónica más frecuente en la infancia pudiendo causar una serie de problemas a los niños que la sufren e indirectamente a sus progenitores. Para comprobar esto en nuestro entorno, se analizan los puntuaciones de depresión, ansiedad y salud general de tres grupos de progenitores: 55 progenitores de niños asmáticos, 32 de niños con otras enfermedades crónicas y 87 de niños sanos. Los resultados muestran que los progenitores de los niños asmáticos siempre obtienen mayores puntuaciones en ansiedad cuando se les compara con los otros dos grupos; muestran mayores niveles de depresión y en ciertas subescalas del Cuestionario de Salud General de Goldberg tienen mayores puntuaciones que los progenitores de niños sanos
Bronchial asthma is the commonest childhood chronic illness and can provoke problems to affected children and indirectly to their parents. To show this, anxiety, depression and general health levels are analyzed in three groups of parents: 55 parents of asthmatic children, 32 parents of other children with chronic illness and 87 parents of healthy children. Results show that parents of asthmatic children have the highest scores in anxiety compared to the other two groups; they show higher levels of depression and in some Goldberg's General Questionnaire subescales hove higher scores than parents of healthy children
