The teaching of a language is linked to the development of cultural competence in that language. Given the variety and complexity of cultures in the classroom, especially in immigration contexts, and the cultural distance that may exist, the teacher is sometimes overwhelmed by the difficulty of guiding and guiding the development of this competence. In this study we analyze the essential concepts of the cultural component in the Spanish as a foreign language classroom, with special attention to the perspective that the teacher should have about them to help in the decision making process.
