El efecto “made in” en la actitud y percepción del consumidor europeo de hortalizas españolas

Abstract

In the competitive arena of the commercialization of food products, the exporting companies have an urgent need to implement specific marketing strategies in order to adapt to the changing market demands. In this paper, we will focus on the horticultural Spanish sector. The current asymmetry within the existent information between origin and destination has highlighted the need to take action, the means to rebuild their reputation with their image abroad as well as to show the efforts made with regards to quality and sustainability. This research intends to demonstrate a conceptual model which analyses the effect “made in” on the consumers’ perception of the horticultural products with guarantee of the Spanish origin in the main European destination markets. This model also aims to explain how this phenomenon affects the European consumers’ attitudes towards these products. A structural equation methodology will be put in place to validate the relationships in the proposed model.
