En esta presentación al volumen se señalan las líneas fundamentales de indagación y los principales interrogantes a los que se ha sometido el complejo fenómeno de la divinización del poder en las sociedades antiguas. Se presentan asimismo los principales estudios sobre la monarquía divina, incidiendo en las últimas publicaciones recientes que tienen una aproximación parecida a la que aquí se propone. Se reflexiona sobre la monarquía divina en su conformación particular en el Próximo Oriente, el Mediterráneo Oriental, el Imperio romano, el Extremo Oriente, así como en Mesoamérica y el Islám.
This presentation to the volume assesses the main lines of research and the critical questions of the study of Divine Kingship in Ancient Societies. It also explores the fundamental literature on the topic, paying special attention to recent publications with a similar approach to the one use in this monograph. This introduction reflects on the particular characteristics of Divine Kingship in the Near East, Eastern Mediterranean, the Roman Empire, the Far East, as well as Central America and Islam.
