Abstract

A structured comparison between the freedoms that Free Software promotes and the relations with the aesthetic experience can facilitate a better understanding of probable solutions of the unresolved problem that Richard Stallman (2000) already raised about doubts of the development of a free aesthetic production. This article reviews each of the four freedoms of Free Software (freedoms to run the program as you wish, for any purpose, to study how the program works, to redistribute copies, and finally, modified versions to others, giving the whole community a chance to benefit from your changes) and look for explanatory connections of a possible free artistic cultural production
