El artículo realiza una exploración por los servicios de inteligencia más relevantes en Gibraltar y su Campo entre los años 1936 y 1945. En este aspecto, la guerra civil sirvió de banco de pruebas en el que alemanes e italianos ensayaron diversos mecanismos de recopilación de información que desempeñarían un papel relevante durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Del mismo modo, los servicios británicos MI5 y MI6 (los más importantes en el área) experimentaron un incremento sensible en esos años para responder, primero, al contexto de la guerra española y, posteriormente, a las necesidades de defensa y preservación del enclave.
This article explores the most relevant intelligence services in Gibraltar and its hinterland from 1936 to 1945. During this period, the Spanish Civil War served as test bench for Germans and Italians who essayed espionage methods that would be developed during the Second World War. In a similar way, the British services MI5 and MI6 (the most important in the area of Gibraltar) achieved a noticeable growth to face the adversary intelligence activities in order to defence and preserve the strategic enclave from the enemy.
