Contingency tables show classifications of individuals under the possible combinations of the levels of two or more categorical variables. The analysis of these tables is fundamental to solve questions about the dependence or not of the variables observed, the measure of the association between both variables or the homogeneity of the populations. The objective of this work is the study of the basic models for the analysis of contingency tables, as well as the practical implementation of these techniques in R.
