This essay pretends to analize the social, political and economical circumstances under which Canada participated in the First World War (1914-1918). Against some historiografic criteria, we support the thesis that the canadian mass mentality of the time, that saw in the emergence of this event a mistical and religious cause, is lack of evidence. A brief historical comparation with similar past events developed in diferrent geographical areas, will help demostrate our thesis.
