Las actividades de Agustín Florencio, cabecilla de una partida de bandoleros que actuó violentamente en la campiña andaluza a comienzos del siglo XVIII, son estudiadas en este artículo como medio de profundizar en los hasta el momento insuficientemente conocidos orígenes del bandolerismo andaluz, tópicamente identificado con la época romántica según una persistente imagen que es preciso revisar. Sin embargo, los perfiles del caso estudiado nos aproximan también a la realidad de una partida austracista activa durante la guerra de Sucesión, en medio de una región mayoritariamente leal a Felipe V, así como a la evidencia de los frecuentes conflictos jurisdiccionales entre la justicia real y la eclesiástica.

The case of Agustín Florencio, chief of a bandits' band who acted violently in the Andalusian country at the beginning of the 18th century, is studied in this paper as a way of deepening in the insufficiently known origins of the Andalusian banditry, identified with the romantic period according to a persistent cliché that is precise to undo. Nevertheless, the profiles of the studied case bring us near also to the reality of an Austrian posse active during the Spanish War of Succession in a region for the most part partial to Philip V, as well as to the evidence of the frequent jurisdictional conflicts between the royal justice and the ecclesiastic justice.
