Abstract

En este trabajo se realiza un análisis de la peligrosidad asociada a la subida del nivel medio del mar como consecuencia del cambio climático en la costa situada entre los municipios de Cádiz y Tarifa (Cádiz). A partir de la combinación de las tasas de cambio del nivel medio del mar de los mareógrafos localizados en ambos puertos y de un modelo global de previsiones de cambio del nivel medio del mar en el futuro se identifican las celdillas de un modelo digital de elevaciones de la superficie emergida que quedarían por debajo de una cota local de inundación. Dicha cota local de inundación es diferente en cada punto de la costa, debido a las características oceanográficas de la misma, lo que ha exigido procesos de interpolación y análisis espacial que permitan una aproximación fidedigna para realizar el análisis de la peligrosidad. Los resultados obtenidos muestran incrementos generalizados de las áreas inundables en las llanuras costeras del área estudiada.

The aim of this paper is to make an analysis of the hazards associated to sea level rise as a consequence of climate change on the shoreline between the Cadiz and Tarifa (Cádiz). By means of the combination of the sea level change rates identified in the tide gauges located in both ports and a global model that estimates the changes in mean sea level in the future, the cells of a digital elevation model are identified as “under future sea level” when they are below a local level of inundation. Such local flood elevation is different for each point on the coast, due to its oceanographic characteristics. This has required interpolation processes and spatial analysis that allow a reliable approach for the analysis of hazards. The results show widespread increases in inundated areas in the coastal plains of the study area.
