Autoimagen corporal de los adolescentes : investigación desde una perspectiva de género

Abstract

La imagen corporal es un aspecto esencial enla identidad personal de losadolescentes, ya que repercute en su autoconcepto y autoestima. Por ello es importante conocer y detectar la imagen corporal que tienen los adolescentes en el momento actual. Los objetivos científicos de nuestra investigación son: a)Diseñar y validar una escala de medición de percepción corporal en jóvenes adolescentes, b) Conocer la percepción de la imagen corporal global y específica que tienen las y los adolescentes y c) Conocer si existen diferencias de autopercepción entre hombres y mujeres adolescentes motivadas por el género, tanto en la autoimagen global como específica. La muestra está formada por 430 adolescentes de la ciudad de Sevilla.El análisis estadístico de realizado nos llevan a las siguientes conclusiones: 1) La escala de medida diseñada para valorar la imagen corporal en una muestra de adolescentes es válida y fiable. 2) El 67% de las chicas valora su figura corporal como normal y el resto 33%, fuera de los cánones estimados como normales. En los chicos el 58% se considera normal y el 42% fuera de este valor 3) Se identifican diferencias de género (sexo) estadísticamente significativas en la percepción de la imagen corporal.
