Diatopía, variabilidade e sinonimia en fraseoloxía

Authors: Núñez Román, Francisco;

Diatopía, variabilidade e sinonimia en fraseoloxía

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyse the position held by Regional Phraseology (UFReg) within the Phraseological System, based on the UFReg contained in the Dizionario di Fraseologia dell’Italiano Regionale (DFIR), which collects the UFReg present in a large corpus of Italian dictionaries. To this end, we make a brief presentation of the status of the diatopic variants covered by diverse phraseological studies, in order to subsequently evaluate the different criteria used to establish the subtle differences between the concepts of variant in a strict sense and of variant in a broader sense; and the differences between variant and synonymous in phraseology. The validity of these criteria is also considered as being applied to a particular corpus of diatopically marked phraseologisms. The result is the configuration of a four-party system in which the UFReg can function as a variant or synonym, not only regarding the phraseology of the Standard Language (UFSt), but also in relation to other UFRegs belonging to other diatopical varieties of the same language. Finally, a terminological differentiation is proposed, which accounts for all possible relationships between UFRegs and UFSts.
