Aprovechando la circunstancia de que en el presente año 2014 se cumple el tercer centenario del nacimiento del escultor Benito de Hita y Castillo (1714-1784), revisamos las principales aportaciones historiográficas que se han vertido sobre tan destacada figura del barroco dieciochesco sevillano durante el último cuarto de siglo, al tiempo que damos a conocer un significativo elenco de imágenes que pueden atribuírsele con fundamento.

Taking advantage of the fact that in this year 2014 marks the third centenary of the birth of the sculptor Benito de Hita y Castillo (1714-1784), we check the main historiographical contributions that have been made on such prominent figure of the baroque sevillian during the last quarter century, while we present a significant cast of images that may be attributed to him with certainty.
