Abstract

In this project, we will observe the natural evolution of modeling certain problems in the eld of statistics. It can be viewed as a theoretical endeavor. It is assumed to be a continuation of the Linear Models and Experimental Design course. Not only will we examine results and proofs that were not covered in the Linear Regression section, but we will also delve into the Generalized Linear Model as a natural extension of linear regression. Furthermore, we will thoroughly explore another way to extend the Linear Regression, Mixed Models. Both models can be merged to give rise to Generalized Mixed Linear Models. Regarding the latter, we will only discuss its functionality without delving deeper, as it utilizes the same tools as Mixed Models and Generalized Linear Models but with longer expressions. Therefore, it would not be of great interest to the project, as it would involve repeating calculations and arguments already seen in other models. Finally, we will see how we can apply all this theoretical power to everyday problems.
