Afrontamiento del estrés en la infancia

Abstract

Nowadays, stress is recognised as one of the predominant health problems in society. This phenomenon affects both adults and children, hurting some areas of development such as social or academic development. Therefore, it is important to know how to manage stress from an early age and thus contribute to personal development and well-being in a healthy way. In the work presented below, an educational intervention programme has been developed based on stress coping, the school environment being favorable for teaching and learning about it. This programme is aimed at primary school pupils and is completely adaptable to the possible characteristics or circumstances that may arise during its implementation. The aim of the programme is to educate students in the teaching of effective, preventive and supportive coping strategies. It aims to enable pupils to cope with stressful situations and, as a consequence, to reduce the negative effects that stress can have on the well-being of children between the ages of six and twelve. In addition, the programme is based on an active, participatory and motivating methodology in which the pupils are the protagonists and discoverers of their own learning. In this way, it should be noted that the programme is fully related to constructivism and the theory of meaningful learning, two very important approaches in the field of educational psychology and pedagogy.
