Abstract

La investigación se sustenta en las relaciones mantenidas entre el cine y la literatura en el terreno de la adaptación así como su evolución en la historia y su percepción por parte del público en general y de las élites intelectuales en particular. Buscaremos responder preguntas tales como la forma en la que se produce el tránsito de un lenguaje literario a uno cinematográfico; con qué expresiones artísticas mantiene mayor relación el cine; las similitudes y diferencias que comparten las obras literarias y las fílmicas; el porqué de los diversos resultados así como los factores que influyen en estos y, finalmente, trataremos de dar con unas pautas que nos acerquen a un mayor índice de éxito y aquiescencia en una adaptación. Para llevar a cabo nuestra investigación nos hemos basado en dos obras: Il Gattopardo y The Godfather. Ambas cuentan con una gran fama y aceptación al igual que comparten enrevesados procesos de escritura y producción así como dificultades y controversias a la hora en la que vieron la luz. Para concluir, teorizaremos acerca de la independencia del cine y de su merecido reconocimiento como expresión artística, poseyendo las cualidades necesarias para no ser desprestigiado por la literatura o cualquier otra forma de arte. A su vez, plantearemos las ventajas de incluir a la figura del autor en el proceso de adaptación.
