La descontextualización del arte urbano

Abstract

The development of the technique and tools used in 1960s graffiti has led to a bifurcation in the expression of urban culture. In any relationship between collecting - market - artistic institution - urban art, the figure of Banksy must appear since he has revolutionized the contemporary art market. Private collectors emerge who are able to tear urban art out of cities and bring it into the museum realm without the explicit consent of the artist. Thus, the conservation, commercialization and exhibition of an ephemeral art produced for a specific context germinates an ontological change in urban art. The art system is the producer of a spectacular new urban art.
