Abstract

In the text of this work, first of all, the history of “anorexia nervosa” would be mentioned in order to reveal the relationship between anorexia nervosa and normative body imaginations, and its psychologicalization and apoliticization. Afterwards, whether anorexia should be considered as a disease or as a behavior or mental state will be discussed by examining concepts such as illness, recovery, health, and norm. Jacques Lacan's Mirror Stage-Child Transition theory, Sigmund Freud's Oedipus Complex and the Anti-Oedipus theories put forward by G. Deleuze and Guattari would be discussed. In addition, the ideas of Maurice Merleau-Ponty and Paul Schilder on the fact that a body cannot fully form a human subject or individual unless it sees itself as a separate entity, and Spinoza's theory of Imaginary Bodies would be examined. In addition; The connections between anorexia and the thoughts of Henri Wallon, Gilles Deleuze and Guattari, Silvia Federici, Rosi Braidotti, Donna Haraway, Moira Gatens and the notion of identity, recognition and the other/ difference brought by European humanism would be discussed within the framework of exclusion policies. This discussion would proceed in line with the views of various feminist philosophers and posthuman theorists. In summary, the text of this work is a theoretical examination and autoethnographic research in the context of how the spiral of silence created by the rejection of all social and political contexts of self-hatred is reflected in artistic practices with a self-censorship mechanism and the relationship of anorexia nervosa (eating disorders) with body image and body representation.
